The Stafford Scholarship
In memory of Rodney "Rod" W. Stafford
Honoring A Life Dedicated To His Community Through Generously Helping Our Own
A Lifetime Committed To Helping
Anyone who knew Coach Rod knew how much he loved sports, fun, life, and giving back to the very community of which he felt lucky to be a part. A wonderful father and husband, Rod was not only passionate about his family but just about everybody else's in Somerset, MA.
To honor Coach Rod's commitment to always being there to offer a helping hand or great piece of advice, or maybe just coach a ballgame, Give A Kid A Dream is launching The Stafford Scholarship. Each year, the scholarship will provide

funding for a student in need who, like so many others, will have our program lift their spirits and prospects, and focus them on becoming educated, considerate, and also become contributors to their own communities.
Rodney "Rod" W. Stafford
OCTOBER 11, 1962 – NOVEMBER 30, 2021

Rodney W. "Rod' Stafford, was born in Alexandria, VA, but spent most of his life in Somerset and was a 1980 graduate of Somerset High School and earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maine at Orono. He was often noted to family and friends as the Mayor of Somerset.
Rod was the Founder & President of Bottom- Line Logistics, a company he owned and operated in Fall River for the past 20 years. Prior to that he had been a Senior Sales Representative with Roadway Express for 16 years. Through Rod’s success in business, he was awarded the coveted Ring of Honor which
designated him as the top producer among many other accolades. This foundation and training provided the platform to start his own company.
Rod was a longtime season ticket holder of the New England Patriots and once said “he would rather lose his company than his front row Patriots tickets”. Rod was very generous and shared his premier tickets with friends and clients. He also was a loyal fan to all of the New England sports teams. Known as "Coach Rod” to many of his children's friends, Rod enjoyed coaching his son’s sports teams especially baseball where his son Chase is a top college pitcher. He could not have been more proud to watch his success. In addition, he was so proud of his son Cole’s success at FedEx, that he brought Cole on as a partner at Bottom-Line, who will now lead the company. He was equally proud of his daughter Kacie, who was unequivocally his greatest supporter, and is currently working as a registered nurse in California. He was passionate about attending all of his children's activities letting them know he was their biggest fan. Rod especially loved the sport of golf and was known on the course as “the Big Lefty."
His Visitation will be held on Saturday December 11, 2021 from 3pm-6pm at Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea.
